We left home this morning around 8:30 and stopped at Canadian Tire in Midland to fill up with fuel.
We are on our way to
Ottawa ON.
Karen is following in our car. We really should get a towing setup for our motorhome so that we can tow the car rather than Karen driving it. It is about an 8 hour drive with stops along the way.
We headed East on Hwy 12 and then East on Hwy 7.
Around noon we stopped for lunch in Havelock ON. Havelock is the home of the largest
Live Canadian Country Music and Outdoor Camping Jamboree. That happens in a couple of weeks.
We walked across the road to the Foodland grocery store and bought a cooked chicken and some crusty buns and enjoyed our lunch.
There is a small rail yard that runs along the road through Havelock with a few rail cars set up on display. Karen especially likes the yellow caboose.
Karen got this photo of my leaving town.
We are officially in Ottawa according to this sign.
Shortly after, we arrive at the
Sleepy Cedars Campground.
We get checked in at the office.
Then we backed into our site and got set up. The ground is not quite level, so I have had to place boards under the front tires. It looks a little silly, but we are level inside. We really like our site, it is in a very quiet part of the campground… perfect for us.
After our dinner we went for a
walk through the campground. This is a very established campground with a lot of seasonal sites and I think there are even some sites that are year round.
This is the office.
The pool area.
The public washrooms.
Some of the seasonal sites.
Saw these 2 Muskoka style chairs, very uniquely “Canadian”
These look like they are year round homes.
Back to our motorhome after our walk. We spent the rest of the evening on our computers researching things to do in Ottawa and figuring out parking spots in Ottawa where we can park the car and then wander around.
