Today is CHRISTMAS DAY Thursday December 25 2008
MERRY CHRISTMAS from South Padre Island Texas !!
Karen and I were awake at 6am, not because we were anxious to see what Santa had brought us and open our gifts, but because we wanted to be the first ones on the beach so that we could find the best sea shells.
We drove out to the very end of the road and spent over an hour looking for the best seashells that we could find. There are so many shells, you literally cannot take a step without stepping on several shells. Here are some photos of what we were seeing as we walked the beach at sunrise.
It was a foggy morning, but the sun was trying hard to burn off the fog.
We went back to the hotel with a sand pail full of shells and laid them out to dry.
We had breakfast with the other guests in the hotel lobby and then went back to our room to open our presents.
There is a lovely Hibiscus growing against the wall at our hotel and a Santa in the window, that is about as Christmassy as it gets here. Actually there are some Christmas Lights strung around.
After lunch we went for a walk along the beach near our hotel. It is impossible to walk on this beach without looking down for interesting shells.
We came back to the hotel to spend some time in the hot tub, the swimming pool was too cold for us, but the hot tub was perfect.
We have reservations for Christmas Dinner this evening at the Windjammer Restaurant. They have a wonderful, all you can eat buffet Christmas Dinner for $40.00 per person. After dinner we drove around the Island looking at the Christmas Lights.
If you would like to see all of our photos from today you can see them on our FLICKR site.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
