We had our breakfast at the hotel, then loaded up the car and got on the road by 11:00am. As we were loading the car Karen took some photos of the geese and ducks swimming in the pond.
We stopped for an early lunch at Cindy’s Diner in Fort Wayne. Highly recommended on the menu is the “Garbage” So we ordered 2 plates of Garbage. It was delicious. I thought I had taken a photo of the Garbage, but I can’t find it now.
Back out on the Lincoln Highway heading North and West, we drive through the town of Churubusco Indiana and stop at the Magic Wand Restaurant for some ice cream.
The road is scenic as we drive through the countryside.
In Kimmell IN there is a Bed and Breakfast, the Kimmel House Inn which was built in 1876.
Stones Tavern which was built in 1839 is now a museum, however the doors were locked.
Between Kimmell and Ligonier there is an old section of brick road.
Throughout the town of Ligonier IN there are a number of murals, here are a few that we found.
We also saw Amish buggies on the main street of Ligonier.
North and West of Ligonier we saw this old aircraft up against a barn so we went to investigate. I don’t think this plane is air worthy anymore, but there is a nicely maintained grass runway.
Near Benton IN we found the old Benton’s Log Cabin Camp.
We are staying the night in Goshen Indiana and will continue along the Lincoln Highway tomorrow.
To see all of our photos from today you can see them on our FLICKR site.
