Today we will leave Loveland CO and head for Dubois WY. Throughout Loveland we have noticed these painted hearts. Next time we are in Loveland we will have to try and find all of them.
The first part of the journey today will take us along the Snowy Range Scenic Byway. The first part of the Byway is through flat land, but you can see in the distance that we will be up in the snow as we cross over the mountains ahead.
We stopped to take photos of a Mule Deer at the side of the road.
Now we are climbing in altitude and there is snow all around us.
I took several photos of the mountains ahead of us and stitched them all into this panoramic shot.
This is Bellamy Lake.
We stopped at Mirror Lake to take some photos. We could not drive down to the lake though because the road was blocked by huge snow drifts… I should have left the snow tires on the car.
We did walk over the snow drift and got down to the lake shore to take a lot of photos and stitch them all together into this one panoramic shot. I checked the GPS and we are at 11,578 ft altitude.
We descend down from Mirror Lake and find these horses watching us.
Down we go further until we encounter another road construction crew. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the escort vehicle to lead us through the construction zone.
We leave the Snowy Range Scenic Byway and re-join I-80. Guess what… more construction. No delays though, we drove through at 65 mph.
We left I-80 and headed North towards Dubois WY.
We passed some amazing rock formations and deep valleys along the way.
This is the route that we drove today. We drove 828 KM today.

Tomorrow we are heading for Grand Teton National Park.
