We will re-visit Zion National Park today. This will be a short day, only going to drive about 100 KM on the Zion National Park Scenic Byway. This will also be a quick blog because I am getting behind with posting the blog and all the photos we are taking.
We saw this hole in the cliff wall and wondered what it was until we came upon and drove through a tunnel. This is actually a porthole that was punched through the cliff wall, to create the tunnel porthole. We counted 5 of these portholes as we drove through the mile long tunnel.
More of the scenic byway.
Checkerboard Mesa is particularly interesting with the checkerboard pattern in the rock surface.
We turned back at this point and headed for our hotel. Photos of the return trip.
We drove through the tunnel again and got a couple of photos looking out through the porthole.
We took about 234 photos today, there is just no way to pick the best and put them into this blog. All of the photos are published on my FLICKR site, so click on the link if you want to see everything from today.
