We slept till 10 am today and missed breakfast so we went to East Side Mario’s for an early lunch and brought back enough leftovers to do us for dinner.
Today is the final day of the 2012 Calgary Stampede. Unfortunately it is pouring rain today, this is the first rain we have seen since we arrived 11 days ago. We had no plans to attend the final day of the Stampede, but the rain confirms that we will not be in attendance.
I spent all day and into the evening working on our routes and maps and making hotel reservations. We have decided to head South and East and we will be visiting more of Alberta and Saskatchewan before we cross over into the USA in about a week from now.
Karen took a break and went outside between rain showers and took some photos of the local ground squirrel community.
While Karen was outside, she also took photos of our hotel.
We have really enjoyed our stay in this facility. It is clean and modern, suited our needs perfectly. Well except for the slow internet, and now for some reason the TV loses the cable signal every so often, but it comes back. I think there are still technical issues with Shaw after the fire they suffered a week ago.
Every evening around 11:00 pm the City of Calgary and the Calgary Stampede put on a fire works show. There are 5 different locations around the City where the fireworks are launched from. We can see 3 locations from our hotel window.
To see all of our photos from today, you can find them on our FLICKR site.
